Detection of high humidity, dew point or condensation

Considerable damage can be caused by unwanted dew formation or condensation effect in cooling plants, pipe lines or technical appliances if timely corrective measures are not taken.
Specially for early detection of threatening danger of condensation or already formed condensation, the SHS series of resistive dew point sensors has been developed.
The thick film layer on a ceramic substrate alters the impedance depending on relative humidity. In addition, the uncoated inter-digital structure on the substrate of SHS A5 recognizes condensate on the surface, irrespective of the thick layer sensor. The application range is right from 0 to 100 % RH in a working temperature span of 0 to 60°C.
The distinctive resistive behaviour as well as the reproducibility and logarithmic characteristics enables simple, long term stable evaluation circuits without the need of complex calibration methods. Through SIL-contacts, the component can be directly mounted on the printed circuit board.
The range of application for this component is very wide. Typical applications are condensate monitor for cooling cabinets, detection of building damage on flat roofs, leakage monitor in waterproof housings, protection from condensation in cooled objects, humidity protection in switchgear & control panels, Detection of moist disks, automotive electronics, Ventilator regulators and many more applications.
